SU.RE Toolkit for Sustainable Retail. POLIMI x StellaMcCartney

Investigating Retail's role in Circular Economy, POLIMI x Stella McCartney participatory workshop.

On Wednesday 17 July, the POLIMI Design Department research team composed of Valeria M. Iannilli (Project Co-ordinator), Alessandra Spagnoli, Tommaso Elli, Francesca Bonfim Bandeira and Chiara Anceschi guided Stella McCartney’s Retail and Sustainability teams (Rossella Benincasa, Alessia Lazzaretti, Valentina Zorzi, Inês Ribeiro, Peter Nasielski and Pasquale Coppolella) in the exploration of valuable strategies and initiatives to strengthen the retail sector’s role in a more sustainable and circular economy.

The SU.RE design-led and participatory workshop guided the teams in discovering and identifying new sustainable retail practices explicitly targeted at the Stella McCartney brand profile. The workshop, rooted in extensive research, codification, and systematisation of more than 150 retail service systems, works on different levels of sustainability (environmental sustainability, social sustainability, and culture of sustainability) and, through the adoption of a custom designed toolkit, intends to trigger and drive innovation in the fashion retail sector.

The initiative is carried out within the MUSA Spoke 5 – Innovative Sustainable Retail and Service model project and, in the coming months, foresees the launch of pilot projects aimed at developing and verifying the innovation trajectories identified throughout the workshop.
